Introduction to Philosophy of Law
About Course
Introduction to Philosophy of Law exists because, frankly, I couldn’t find anything like it when I needed it. Existing resources were either expensive, poorly written, or overly complex. That simply wasn’t good enough. The legal system plays a role in everyone’s lives, so having a solid introductory resource shouldn’t be a privilege.
I’m not claiming to be an expert legal scholar. My background is in business law and cybersecurity. However, I discovered that understanding the core concepts of the legal system doesn’t require a five-year law degree. That’s the spirit behind this course.
Designed with Pakistan’s Higher Education Commission’s (HEC) LLB program in mind, and valuable to anyone interested, this course aims to:
- Demystify legal language: Legal terminology can feel intimidating. This course breaks it down to be easily understood, even if it’s your first encounter with legal concepts.
- Provide a strong foundation: Whether you’re an LLB student or just curious, understanding the basics of the legal system enhances your knowledge in many other domains.
- Be free and accessible: Learning shouldn’t be behind a paywall. This course is designed to be freely available for anyone wanting to broaden their horizons.
I’m grateful to my brother, Muhammad Rashid, for his graphics work. Great visuals make a significant difference in how we learn!
In this course, we’ll cover:
- The history of law
- Different kinds and classifications of law
- sources of law
- Your legal rights and responsibilities
- The importance of the rule of law …and much more!
I sincerely hope this resource proves helpful to those who need it. If you have any feedback, please let me know! This course is a living project, and its potential rests on making it a useful tool for you.
