Context & Philosophy

Designed for CPSP, Built for FCPS Part II Psychiatry

The FCPS Part 2 Complete Course by EduBros has been created for one clear purpose: to help psychiatry candidates prepare for the CPSP FCPS Part II exam in a focused, structured, and exam-oriented way. It is not a random collection of notes, copied MRCPsych material, or scattered MCQs from different books.

Many candidates work very hard but still feel confused because they do not fully understand the exam pattern. Some rely only on MRCPsych questions, others keep reading Maudsley, Oxford, or Kaplan without knowing what is truly high-yield for FCPS, while some prepare MCQs but miss management protocols and clinical reasoning.

EduBros has built this course to solve that exact problem, by bringing the right material, organized the right way, into one place.

Why This Course Was Created

FCPS Part II is an exit-level examination. It is not just a test of memorized facts. It checks whether a candidate can think like a psychiatrist, recognize important clinical patterns, apply management principles, and answer questions according to the CPSP style under timed pressure.

Effort Without Direction Leads to Failure:

The common problem among candidates is not lack of hard work, but lack of direction. Candidates often spend weeks mastering topics that rarely appear, while skipping high-yield areas assumed to be too basic. Every chapter in this course has been filtered through the lens of: "Will this appear in the exam, and if so, how?"

Methodology

Complete Course Approach

The course follows a complete preparation model designed to move candidates progressively from reading to understanding, from understanding to application, and from application to exam confidence:

High-Yield Summaries: Tables and summaries distill each topic into what actually appears in the exam.

03

Practise

MCQs & Past Papers: Application-level MCQs and verified past papers test real exam performance.

04

Strengthen

Mocks & Quick Revision: Mock exams build stamina, while quick-revision material locks in last-week gains.

Interactive Course Preview

Inside the Complete Course: Actual LMS Material

The following previews demonstrate the actual structure, clinical depth, examiner focus, and embedded MCQs provided inside the EduBros platform:

Module: Psychopathology & Phenomenology • Memory Distortions LMS Active View

1.1.1. Retrospective Falsification: The unintentional distortion of details of a genuine memory filtered through a patient's current psychological state, defense mechanisms, or mood. Key Feature: True Event + Distorted Detail.

Clinical Example: Retrospective Falsification Clinical Lens

A 45-year-old man in therapy for anxiety recalls a childhood memory of being severely reprimanded by his teacher. He describes the teacher shouting and the entire class laughing at him. A childhood friend confirms the reprimand occurred, but states the teacher spoke firmly, did not shout, and no one laughed. The core event is real, but the emotional details were amplified through the lens of lifelong anxiety.

Past Paper Question (Q1): During therapy, a woman recalls that she was assaulted by her cousin in childhood. Later, through corroborating evidence, the therapist discovers that the assault did occur, but it was perpetrated by her father. What best explains this distortion?
  • a. Transference
  • b. Counter-transference
  • c. False memory
  • ✓ d. Retrospective falsification (Correct Answer)
  • e. Confabulation
Correct Answer (d) Explanation: The core traumatic event occurred, but the perpetrator's identity was unconsciously substituted as a defense mechanism to protect the psyche from the profound trauma involving a primary caregiver. Option (c) is incorrect because the event was genuine. Option (e) is incorrect because confabulation is an organic memory gap-filling seen in Korsakoff's syndrome.
Module: Psychopharmacology & Emergencies • Catatonia LMS Active View

Key Signs: Stupor, mutism, posturing, catalepsy (maintaining an externally positioned posture against gravity), waxy flexibility, negativism, and stereotypy. First-Line Treatment: High-dose benzodiazepines (The Lorazepam Challenge: 1 to 2 mg IM/IV). Crucial Contraindication: Antipsychotics must be avoided or discontinued, as they can trigger Neuroleptic Malignant Syndrome (NMS).

Past Paper Question (Q91): A 30-year-old male with Schizoaffective Disorder presents mute, refusing food and water for three days, staring blankly with stable vitals and a mildly elevated CPK (400 U/L) without rigidity. What is the most appropriate immediate pharmacological intervention?
  • a. Intramuscular Haloperidol
  • b. Intravenous Dantrolene
  • ✓ c. Intramuscular Lorazepam (Correct Answer)
  • d. Oral Procyclidine
  • e. Intramuscular Zuclopenthixol Acetate
Correct Answer (c) Explanation: Classic presentation of catatonia (mutism, refusal of fluids). The first-line evidence-based diagnostic and therapeutic intervention is the Lorazepam Challenge. Antipsychotics (Haloperidol, Zuclopenthixol) are contraindicated due to the high risk of precipitating lethal NMS.
Module: Antidepressant Pharmacology • Sexual Dysfunction Protocol Algorithm Preview

Stepwise Clinical Management Hierarchy:

  1. Step 1: Wait and monitor for spontaneous resolution.
  2. Step 2 (First-Line Active Intervention): Dose Reduction (if psychiatric condition is well controlled).
  3. Step 3: Drug Holiday (skip dose before planned sexual activity; ineffective for Fluoxetine due to its long half-life).
  4. Step 4: Add Adjunctive Agent (Bupropion or Sildenafil).
  5. Step 5: Switch Antidepressant (to Bupropion, Mirtazapine, or Agomelatine).
Past Paper Question (Q86): A woman on an antidepressant complains of decreased libido and vaginal dryness. Which antidepressant is MOST likely responsible for this adverse effect?
  • ✓ a. Fluoxetine (Correct Answer)
  • b. Trazodone
  • c. Bupropion
  • d. Mirtazapine
  • e. Agomelatine
Correct Answer (a) Explanation: Fluoxetine is an SSRI with potent serotonergic stimulation of 5-HT2A receptors, commonly causing sexual dysfunction. In contrast, Bupropion, Mirtazapine, and Agomelatine have low rates of sexual side effects and are frequently utilized as switch options.

Cleared FCPS-II theory Alhamdulillah.

I joined quite late so obviously I couldn't go through every single thing available in the course.

I concentrated on past papers because seniors kept telling me that is the most important part. They were right. A lot of the exam felt familiar, either repeated questions or the same concepts asked differently.

The support from team was also really good. You don't feel like somebody just sold you a login and disappeared.

Very happy with my decision to join and now InshaAllah preparing for TOACS.

Honestly the biggest advantage was having everything in one place.

Before this my phone was full of random recalls, senior notes, screenshots from groups, PDFs with different answers and God knows what else 😅

EduBros gave some structure to my preparation. I mainly followed the past papers and explanations and then used the mocks to assess myself.

In the final days I stopped searching for new resources completely.

Alhamdulillah theory cleared and I genuinely think that was the right decision.

Alhamdulillah finally PASS.

I had failed before with a very small margin so this attempt was mentally very difficult. Every time I got a practice question wrong I started thinking I will fail again.

The EduBros mocks slowly helped me understand that you don't need to know every single question to clear an exam. You need to manage the paper properly and avoid unnecessary mistakes.

Past papers were also extremely high yield and many concepts appeared again.

Can't explain the relief today. Thank you so much.

Passed Alhamdulillah.

My advice to anyone joining EduBros is please take the mocks seriously.

I almost skipped them because exam was close and I thought I should spend that time revising. Thank God I didn't.

First mock showed me that after half the paper I start rushing and making stupid mistakes. By last mock I was much better with timing and concentration.

That same thing helped me massively in actual exam.

Obviously notes and past papers are good but mocks were honestly the hidden gem for me.

I don't usually write long reviews but you people deserve this one.

Alhamdulillah FCPS-II theory cleared.

The best part for me was honestly the group. Sometimes one MCQ has two options that both look right and you can waste 30 minutes searching books and still remain confused. Here we could discuss it and understand why one answer was preferred.

Some of those exact confusing concepts appeared in the paper as well and I could remember the discussions.

Past papers + discussions + mocks was the combination that helped me most.

May Allah reward your whole team.

Big thanks to EduBros team.

This was my repeat attempt and honestly after last failure I didn't know what else to study because I had already read almost all the recommended books.

What I changed this time was the method, not the books.

I concentrated on past papers, repeated questions, explanations and mocks. That showed me how CPSP actually tests the same important areas again and again.

In the exam many topics were familiar and I was much less confused between options.

Alhamdulillah finally passed.

Alhamdulillah cleared this time.

I was honestly exhausted from FCPS preparation because after duties you just don't have energy to open another 500 page book.

What worked for me with EduBros was that I could just open the questions and start practicing. If I was weak somewhere then I would go back and revise that topic.

Mocks were also very helpful specially for time management. My first mock score was horrible 😂 but slowly I understood my mistakes.

Actual exam went much better and Alhamdulillah got the result I was praying for.

Passed Alhamdulillah.

I think my biggest mistake in previous attempt was covering book after book but hardly doing proper MCQ practice. You feel like you know everything until four similar options are put in front of you 😂

This time I did EduBros past papers properly and actually read explanations of questions I got wrong.

The repeated concepts in exam surprised me. There were questions where I literally remembered the group discussion about why one option was better than the other.

Thank you guys honestly. This course made my preparation much more exam oriented.

Alhamdulillah finally cleared FCPS-II theory.

Honestly I joined EduBros mainly for past papers because I had already covered books before and didn't want another huge pile of notes. But after joining I realised the mocks and discussions were equally important.

A lot of questions in exam felt familiar from the past papers. Even where the exact question was not repeated, I knew that topic had been tested before and could remember the explanation.

I had failed theory previously and this time I was really scared of going through all of that again. The mocks gave me a lot more confidence because actual exam did not feel like the first time I was sitting under pressure.

Really thankful to whole team.

Assalam o Alikum Dr Khalid and team, I pray you are in the best of health and Iman. I wanted to send this message the moment I came out of the exam hall, but then I thought to wait till the result.

Alhamdulillah on recommendation of my collegues I got your EduBros subscription somewhere 4 weeks before exam, and since I was short of time, I only got to do the past papers and I took your mock exams very seriously.

Those two things helped me a lot. I saw quite a few questions repeated from the past papers so that was one thing, and since we had actively discussed confusing options in the group discussions, those tricky questions also showed up and I could easily recall our discussions Alhumdulillah.

The best thing for me were the mocks. I know for most people it's quite a hassle to do mocks very close to the final exam, but for me they helped build my stamina to sit through the actual exam. Im the type of person who is usually the first one to get out of the exam hall because I get bored and I start getting restless with passing time. Sitting through the mock exams, I could time myself, train myself to be thorough and patient and also get a sense of where I was standing when we would get the scores every night after mock.

The mock exam key that would be shared afterwards with explanations was also extremely helpful as I could identify my mistakes.

What I noticed during the actual exam was that if I didn't exactly know a question I wasn't panicking right away as I mentally could calculate how much margin I had to make mistakes. I acquired these skills through the mocks and there was no other way to get this important exam skill.

This mock was a bonus feature for the premium members as I understand it and I couldn't be more grateful for this. I pray Allah swt reward you and your entire team for this service you selflessly provided and help you achieve your goals in this world and the next. Ameen.

After FCPS training everybody gets busy with their careers and people lose contact so this whole exam prep can be a lonely venture. Through EduBros I got to experience that community feeling where we discussed our queries and also got to vent our frustration from time to time. I highly recommend EduBros to all my fellows appearing in FCPS exams.
